Wendy Newton, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, BCPP, is a yoga educator, Polarity therapist, author and mentor. Wendy is an initiated yogiraj in the ISHTA Yoga lineage, and co-authored Tantra of the Yoga Sutras (2018) with Alan Finger, founder of ISHTA Yoga. She is senior faculty and mentor in the ISHTA Yoga teacher training program and the Yoga Polarity Center’s Yoga Therapy and Polarity Therapy programs. She conducts workshops and trainings internationally at the intersection of yoga, energy medicine and personal empowerment. Her work with private clients and groups combines her passion for harnessing the power of yoga, meditation, and energy work to facilitate ease and expression within the individual and connection within community. Wendy’s work is intended to inspire students, clients, and communities to navigate life with grace, no matter the external circumstances, and through this practice to gain perspective, purpose, growth, and healing.
Polarity Therapy Sessions
Polarity Therapy is a system of energy work that facilitates physical, emotional, mental and spiritual re-patterning and is intended to restore a balanced distribution of energy throughout the system. Using gentle touch and holding a reflective space for self-awareness, Polarity Therapy provides an opportunity to access and unwind the origins of suffering. Wendy has been practicing and teaching Polarity for nearly two decades, and is known for her insight and ability to catalyze change.
People have come to her with issues related to digestion, sleep, infertility, depression and anxiety, chronic illness, life transitions, challenges with personal and professional expression, and boundaries.
Embodied Yoga Sutras Sessions
Wendy’s years of immersion in the study of the Sutras with her teacher, Alan Finger, combined with her decades of self-study through yoga and polarity training inform her Embodied Sutras work. Using close textual reading, reflective listening, and meditative technique, Wendy helps students find their own way into understanding and contextualizing the framework and technology of yoga. This is a powerful way for practitioners of yoga to deepen their own practice and reinvigorate their teaching.
Asana, Pranayama and Meditation Instruction Sessions
Yoga is way more than asana class. Wendy’s private yoga sessions utilize her reflective listening skills to hone in on how the tools of yoga can be applied to the individual for resolving physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual issues. Her work is intended to provide the beginning yoga practitioner with the tools to create a home practice and to assist the adept practitioner to deepen and refine their skills to catalyze self awareness and self expression.
Mentorship, Supervision and Support Sessions
This modality is for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and polarity therapists. Ultimately, our own ongoing practice of self-reflection is at the heart of our ability to share what we have learned. In fact, we often teach and hold space for what we ourselves need to learn. Wendy is known for her ability to support practitioners at the edge of their growth curve and to help them to become aware of their blind spots and attachments within the scope of their work with clients and students. This work is intended to support practitioners to gain perspective on their own karmic patterns, and to find efficacy in relating spaciously to the needs of their clients.
